CyanView Product Licensing Guide

Choose the license that best fits your workflow.

Start with what you need now, and upgrade as your production scales. All licenses are one-time purchases — no subscription required.

Overview

CyanView licenses cover the following three types of devices.

• RCP (Remote Control Panel): Choose your hardware (RCP or RCP-J), then choose your license tier (DUO, QUATTRO, OCTO, MSU).
• RIO (Remote I/O): License based on local connectivity (+LAN) or external network connectivity (+WAN).
• CI0 (Camera Interface): No license required.

RCP Licenses

Step 1: Choose RCP or RCP-J

Both versions are available at every license tier. The difference is the hardware.

RCP

The standard RCP provides full camera control via touchscreen and rotary knobs. Scene files are accessible through the menu system.

Choose RCP when: scene files are set once and rarely change during production.

RCP-J

RCP-J adds five quick-access scene buttons and an integrated iris joystick on top of the RCP.

• Pressing buttons 1–5 instantly loads a scene file with no menu navigation needed.
• The buttons are locked to the camera. Each button loads the scene for the currently selected camera.
• The joystick enables tactile iris control.

Choose RCP-J when: you need instant access to preset looks during live production.

Step 2: RCP License Tier

The license tier determines how many cameras a single RCP can control simultaneously.

Note on DUO: Choose DUO for workflows where each camera requires a dedicated RCP.

Upgrading Your RCP License

You can upgrade to a higher tier at any time. Upgrades are applied via a license file, so no hardware changes are required.

RIO Licenses

RIO (Remote I/O) enables remote camera control. Choose +LAN or +WAN based on your need for local vs. external connectivity and the number of connected cameras.

RIO + LAN

Controls up to 2 cameras on a local network.

Includes:

• Up to 2 cameras
• Full protocol support for all connected cameras
• Standalone operation – camera control continues even if the RCP connection is lost
• Local Web UI access for configuration

Limitations:

• No cloud connectivity
• Cannot participate in REMI (remote production) workflows.
• The RCP must be on the same local network

RIO + WAN

Enables remote camera control both locally and via the cloud.

Includes everything in +LAN, plus the following.

• Cloud connectivity for remote production (CyanView Cloud)
• REMI support – connects RCP and RIO +WAN over the internet
• Remote Web UI access from anywhere
• Works over cellular (4G/5G), bonded connections, and the public internet.

 

What is CyanView Cloud:

• Included with the +WAN license
• Unlimited use (no data caps, no time limits)
• No ongoing fees whatsoever (no subscription required)

How cloud connectivity works

CyanView Cloud lets you shade and control any camera from anywhere, using nothing but an internet connection.
An RCP in the control room and a RIO connected to a camera can operate exactly as they would on a local network, even when separated by great distances – such as during a marathon broadcast – as long as both have internet access. Each device connects through CyanView’s cloud servers, so no complex network configuration (such as firewall changes) is needed. Devices recognize and connect to one another using a group tag (REMI group name).

Upgrading from +LAN to +WAN

A RIO +LAN license can be upgraded to +WAN at any time.

1. Purchase the +WAN upgrade license
2. Apply the license through the RIO web interface.
3. Configure the REMI tag to enable cloud connectivity

*Upgrades are performed via the Web UI, so no hardware changes are required.

CIO (No License Required)

The CI0 (Camera Interface) is a serial-to-IP converter that connects a camera to the network. It operates as a slave device controlled by an RCP or RIO.

Key points:

• No separate license needed. Included with the hardware purchase.
• LAN only – requires a network connection to an RCP or RIO
• No standalone operation – camera control is lost if the connection to the RCP/RIO is dropped.

CI0 vs. RIO for remote connections

If you need reliable camera control in locations with unstable network connectivity, use RIO rather than CI0. RIO maintains local control even if the network connection drops; CI0 cannot.
